Our Love Story

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Ours began with a simple introduction from our closest friends. Little did we know that one introduction would change our lives forever.

Although we both studied Physical Therapy at Fatima University, we belonged to different batches and never crossed paths back then. Life had its own perfect timing.

When Rommel was already living in the United States and I was still in the Philippines, one phone call in May 2021 changed everything. On May 25, 2021, we decided to give love a chance. We both knew that a long-distance relationship would never be easy. I remember telling him, "There's nothing wrong with trying, even if we're miles apart." So we took a leap of faith.

What started as simple conversations became daily routines. Every morning and every night, we chose each other despite the distance. Day by day, our hearts grew closer even though an ocean separated us.

In August 2022, Rommel came home to the Philippines. We spent precious months together until October 2022, creating memories that made us realize our feelings had grown much deeper. Going back to long distance became even harder, but we stayed connected through our 24-hour video calls. Distance no longer felt impossible because we always found our way back to each other.

When he returned to the Philippines again, our relationship faced its greatest challenge. We went through painful trust issues and the heartbreak of infidelity. There were nights filled with tears, difficult conversations, and moments when giving up seemed easier than holding on.

But love is not measured by the absence of storms. It is measured by the willingness to stay, to forgive, to grow, and to fight together.

We chose to fight for us.

Our long-distance relationship continued until 2024. It wasn't perfect, but every challenge made us stronger, wiser, and more intentional in loving one another.

Then came one of the greatest blessings of our journey.

In May 2025, I was finally granted my U.S. visa. For the first time, we traveled back to America together—not as two people separated by continents, but side by side. Everything felt different. The distance that had once tested us was finally behind us.

Living life together made our love grow even deeper. The dreams we had talked about for years no longer felt impossible. They were finally within reach.

Looking back, our story was never easy. It was built through patience, countless video calls, tears, forgiveness, unwavering faith, and choosing each other every single day.

Today, as we prepare to begin the next chapter of our lives together, we realize that every goodbye, every sacrifice, every trial, and every mile apart led us exactly where we were meant to be.

Some people find love easily. We found ours through distance, time, forgiveness, and God's perfect timing.

And if we had the chance to live this story all over again, we would still choose each other.

Because after everything we've been through, we know this with all our hearts:

The best love stories aren't the ones without struggles—they're the ones where two imperfect people never stop choosing one another.

Forever begins now. ❤️
