Our Love Story
From Exchanging Gossip to Exchanging Vows
Every love story begins somewhere.
Some begin in cafés.
Some begin in classrooms.
Others begin with destiny wrapped in perfect timing.
But Carl and Jane’s story?
It began with runny noses, childhood chaos, and family gatherings under the unforgiving heat of the Philippine sun.
Back then, they were just two kids running around barefoot, laughing too loudly, chasing each other with sticky hands and sweaty faces while adults shouted from afar,
“Hoy! Umay kayo ditoy ket nagpudot!”
Everyone thought they were cousins.
Well… they thought they were cousins too.
After all, their families were inseparable. Every reunion felt like one giant fiesta filled with karaoke, plastic chairs, overflowing food containers, and aunties collecting the latest neighborhood gossip before dessert was even served.
Carl and Jane grew up side by side in those moments — playful childhood memories stitched together by summers and celebrations.
But as life usually does, it pulled them in different directions.
The little boy with the sunburnt cheeks grew older.
The little girl with endless laughter became a woman.
Years passed.
No calls.
No messages.
No meaningful conversations.
Just two familiar names quietly existing on each other’s social media friend list.
Until one ordinary day…
One tiny reaction changed everything.
At first, it was just fire emojis.

Every story Jane posted somehow received Carl’s consistent reaction — almost like he had assigned himself as the official fire emoji representative.
Days passed.
Still, more fire emojis.
Then finally came the first real message:
“Kamusta, ma’am?”
Simple.
Polite.
Very innocent.
But as every great love story knows, danger usually starts with innocent conversations.
Then came the follow-up message that changed everything:
“Uy, amom ni kwa?”
And somehow, that single line opened the door to endless conversations.
What started as casual chats quickly became a 24-hour news network between two people who apparently never ran out of chismis.
Morning gossip.
Lunch gossip.
Midnight gossip.
If Piddig ever needed official reporters for fresh and old news, Carl and Jane would have qualified immediately.
They exchanged stories like professional broadcasters:
family updates,
barangay happenings,
mysterious breakups,
surprising engagements,
and the occasional,
“Promise, secret lang ha.”
Talking to each other became a habit neither of them noticed forming.
One message became ten.
Ten became endless late-night conversations.
And somewhere between sharing gossip and laughing over ridiculous stories…
they found comfort in each other.
Then came the plot twist nobody expected.
One day, Carl decided he no longer wanted to know Jane only through chats and gossip threads.
So he flew to the Philippines.
Jane was shocked.
I mean… who flies internationally because of chismis and feelings?
Apparently, Carl does.
And just like that, the people who once exchanged gossip became the gossip.
The aunties who once watched them play as “magpinsan” suddenly had brand new material to discuss.
“Hindi pala sila magpinsan?”
“Ay kaya pala…”
“Matagal ko nang napapansin yan!”
What started as childhood playmates,
turned into gossip buddies,
then partners.
And eventually, into something even more beautiful.
Because somewhere along the way, they realized that maybe love does not always arrive grandly.
Sometimes, love quietly sneaks in through daily conversations,
through laughter,
through comfort,
through updates that slowly become,
“Have you eaten?”
“Did you get home safe?”
“I miss talking to you.”
Until one day, you wake up realizing that the person you once shared gossip with…
is now the person you want to share your entire life with.
And so here they are today.
The boy who once ran around with a runny nose beside her under the summer sun…
is now the man waiting for her at the altar.
The girl who once exchanged gossip with him until sunrise…
is now the woman who will carry his last name for a lifetime.
Who would have thought?
A few fire emojis.
A “Kamusta, ma’am?”
An “Uy, amom ni kwa?”
And thousands of chismis later…
would lead to this moment.
From childhood “magpinsan,”
to unofficial marites partners of Piddig,
to soulmates written perfectly by God.
And now, the greatest plot twist of all:
The two people who once exchanged gossip…
are finally exchanging vows.
And this time,
they are no longer the story being talked about—
they are the love story everyone will remember.
