Our Love Story

Once upon a swipe, Aika and Don found each other through an online dating app. Their story began with Don’s unforgettable pick-up line, “China get your number?”—which left Aika completely confused, not realizing that he was actually saying, “Try’na get your number.” Having read one too many stories about catfishing—and noticing that Don somehow looked different in every photo he uploaded—Aika remained skeptical and became determined to meet him in person.

They finally met amid the sea of rushing strangers at the MRT station near Shangri-La Plaza, where time seemed to slow just for them—like a scene unfolding in slow motion. In that fleeting pause, Aika appeared as if she had stepped out of a dream, while Don stood waiting, donning his unmistakable “John Lloyd” look, as though the world had quietly conspired to frame that very moment for them.

A simple bowl of spicy ramen became one of their earliest memories, but it felt anything but simple when shared between them. Because Aika could not yet handle spicy food, Don gallantly took it upon himself to finish every last bite for her, as if it were a small act of devotion meant only for her comfort.

At the end of what Don stubbornly refused to call their “first date,” he accompanied Aika back to Makati under the quiet glow of the city lights. Not wanting the night to end, Aika unknowingly led him through streets that stretched their time together longer and longer, until his feet ached and even began to bleed—but Don never once let go of her presence, choosing instead to stay beside her, listening to her voice and sharing stories as if every step with her was worth the pain.

From that day forward, their conversation never truly ended. What began with a misunderstood pick-up line, suspiciously inconsistent photographs, spicy ramen, and a very long walk blossomed into eight beautiful years of laughter, friendship, and enduring love. Now, Aika and Don are ready to take their longest and most meaningful walk yet—this time toward forever, hand in hand.
