Our Journey to Forever

It all started with the scratch of pencils and the innocence of a first-grade classroom, where Sami and Lara only knew each other’s names, completely unaware that their paths were already entwined. For years, they were simply a quiet presence in each other’s lives until their first year of high school, when distance separated them as Lara transferred schools.

But fate, it seemed, preferred them in the same room. By junior year, Lara returned. When senior year arrived, something shifted. Sami looked at his childhood classmate and saw someone entirely new. The familiar girl from Grade 1 had become the girl he couldn’t stop thinking about. He spent an entire year courting her, proving that his feelings were far more than a fleeting high school crush. On January 14, 2016, they officially became a couple.

Entering college brought a new test: different schools and the pressures of demanding degree programs. Sami was navigating the challenging requirements of Marine Engineering, while Lara immersed herself in the exhausting world of Accountancy. They faced the usual struggles of student life, but they never lost sight of the future they were building together. In 2018, Sami proudly graduated, leaving the classroom behind for a life at sea. Lara, still studying hard, cheered him on as she focused on finishing her own degree.

While college had been a test of their relationship, 2019 brought a whole new level of difficulty. Sami left for a grueling 13-month contract on a ship, forcing them to learn how to love each other from thousands of miles away. With Sami out at sea, internet connection was rare. There were no quick replies or spontaneous phone calls. They had to wait—sometimes for weeks—just to catch a brief glimpse of each other on a screen. Yet, even through the silence and poor connections, they stayed close and held onto one another.

By 2021, Lara graduated with her Accountancy degree and entered the corporate world, while Sami earned a well-deserved promotion at sea. Every phase they went through didn’t weaken their bond; instead, it built a stronger foundation for their future.

In 2023, seeking further career growth, Lara made a brave choice and moved to Dubai. This became the next big test for their relationship. They weren’t just fighting bad ship signals anymore; they now had to deal with different time zones and completely separate daily worlds. Still, they used the time apart to grow as individuals, which only made their bond as a couple impossible to break.

In 2025, Sami visited Lara in Dubai, but he had a much bigger plan in mind. On April 14, 2025, with the ocean breeze in the air and the sand beneath their feet on a beautiful island, Sami proposed. After years of surviving miles of ocean and time differences, they were finally in the same place. Lara said YES, and they were the happiest people alive, knowing they had made it through every single challenge together.

After ten years of always choosing each other, Sami and Lara are no longer just childhood classmates or long-distance lovers—they are partners for life. They are finally ready to start their greatest adventure together and build the future they always dreamed of.
