The Couple’s Love Story

Fate rarely announces itself. Some journeys begin with a single moment, while others take years to unfold. Shawn and Cyrinne’s story began long before they recognized it as the beginning of a love that would last a lifetime.

Back in 2014, Shawn and Cyrinne were both college students at the University of Nueva Caceres. They became classmates in one minor subject, but life had not yet written their story.

By 2016, they became acquaintances through a shared circle of friends. They would occasionally cross paths, exchange conversations, and enjoy each other's company. At the time, they were both in separate relationships, never realizing that God was simply preparing the perfect time for what was yet to come.

In 2017, fate brought them even closer. Cyrinne, together with her friend Cindy, rented a boarding house on Looban Dos, Bayawas Street in Naga City—the very same boarding house where Shawn was staying. By an unexpected twist of fate, their rooms were directly across from each other, their doors only a few steps apart.

Many evenings were spent watching “Ang Probinsiyano” together in the room of their boardmate, Lucky, who happened to be Shawn's teammate on the Lawn Tennis Varsity Team and Cyrinne’s classmate. They laughed, shared ordinary moments, and built a simple friendship. Unknown to Shawn, Cyrinne quietly admired him—not because of romance, but because of how neatly he kept his room and the familiar scent of his favorite perfume that lingered in the hallway.

Soon after, life led them in different directions. Cyrinne graduated later that year and, although she stayed at the boarding house for a while, they hardly saw each other anymore. Shawn graduated in 2018, leaving the boarding house, and eventually, their connection faded into silence. Life moved on. Shawn became single in 2018, while Cyrinne's chapter closed in 2020.

Then came February 2021. With a simple message asking about the location of the photo Cyrinne had seen on Shawn's Facebook story, “Sain yarrrn?” — Cyrinne unknowingly reopened a door that had quietly waited for the right moment. Their conversations resumed naturally, growing longer and more meaningful with each passing day. Shawn's actions spoke louder than his words, leaving Cyrinne wondering if he was courting her—but she was too cautious to assume.

After several invitations, Cyrinne finally agreed to meet him on March 6, 2021, at SM City Naga. It was their first official date, yet it felt as though they were simply continuing a conversation that life had paused years before. Before the day ended, Shawn drove Cyrinne home and insisted on meeting her family—a gesture that quietly revealed the sincerity of his intentions.

Just a few days later, on March 12, Shawn said the three words that changed everything: "I love you."

Gathering all her courage, Cyrinne finally asked the question she had been holding back: "What are your intentions?"

His answer was clear, genuine, and unwavering.

Then, on April 24, 2021, after visiting Hinulid Chapel in Calabanga, Cyrinne finally said “yes” on their way home—marking the beautiful beginning of their journey as a couple.

From that day on, they began writing their story together.

Like every love story, theirs has seen both sunshine and storms. Through every joy and every challenge, they chose each other, again and again. They explored new places, created countless memories, and discovered that some of life's sweetest moments were also the simplest—sharing meals together.

Then, on May 27, 2025, Shawn asked another life-changing question.

This time, it wasn't asking to begin a relationship. It was asking for forever. And once again, Cyrinne answered with a joyful, "Yes."

And with grateful hearts, they look forward to the greatest adventure yet.

On December 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of their families and friends, Shawn and Cyrinne will stand before God and promise to spend the rest of their lives choosing each other—today, tomorrow, and always.

Years ago, they lived only a few steps apart, with two separate doors facing each other across a quiet hallway. Neither of them could have imagined that those two doors would one day lead them here.

Now, they are no longer walking toward separate rooms, but toward one home, one door, and one life together.

Because sometimes, the most beautiful love stories aren't the ones that begin with love at first sight.

They're the ones that begin with friendship, are shaped by perfect timing, and unfold exactly as God intended.

"He has made everything beautiful in its time."
Ecclesiastes 3:11
