Seventeen Years of Becoming me

I’ve been told that when I was very little, I looked at the world like it was one giant puzzle just waiting to be solved. My earliest memories aren't cinematic; they’re snapshots of scraped knees, sticky fingers from melting ice cream, and the absolute comfort of knowing I was safe. Building towering block castles only to dramatically knock them down just to watch them fall was perhaps my very first experimental phase.

​Growing up meant trading playground dirt for school hallways, backpacks that were way too heavy, and trying to figure out where I fit in. This was the era of awkward school photos, developing weird obsessions, and learning how to navigate friendships that felt like life-or-death. I remember sitting on the bedroom floor surrounded by colored pens and notebooks, convinced that organizing my stationery was the key to getting my life together.

​Then came the teenage years—a roller coaster I didn't always ask to get on. There were days of intense self-doubt followed by moments of sudden, fierce clarity. I started caring less about what people thought and more about who I actually wanted to be when the noise faded away. I still remember riding with the windows down, music blasting, feeling that sudden rush of absolute freedom and realizing I was growing up faster than I ever imagined.

​And now, here I am. Eighteen. It’s a strange mix of feeling like I’ve lived a hundred lifetimes and realizing I’ve barely scratched the surface. I don't have all the answers figured out, and honestly, I'm okay with that. Growing up isn't a straight line; it's a messy, beautiful compilation of every lesson learned, every laugh shared, and every step taken forward.

​As I close this chapter and step into adulthood, I carry everything that got me here: the lessons from my mistakes, the warmth of the people who love me, and a quiet excitement for whatever comes next. Here’s to the next adventure.
