Our Love Story
"It is not good for man to be alone." — God knew this long before Emely and Mike ever did.
Two Separate Journeys
Life had not been easy for either of them.
Emely had known the devastating shock of losing her husband suddenly — one moment he was there, and then he was simply gone. What followed were 12 years of strength, sacrifice, and solitude as she poured herself into raising her children alone. She did it with grace, but deep in her heart, a quiet longing never left her. She was not done with love.
Mike's road had been different, but no less painful. He watched the woman he loved slowly disappear over six long years to the cruelty of Alzheimer's — a grief all its own, losing someone again and again while they are still right in front of you. After she passed, a year of silence and stillness followed. He too carried that ache — that unmistakable pull toward companionship, toward partnership, toward someone.
Neither of them was willing to settle for a life only half-lived.
Then God moved.
He drew both of them — at the very same time — to the same Christian dating site. What are the odds? Across languages, across cultures, across the literal span of the globe, He quietly orchestrated a meeting that neither of them could have engineered on their own.
And the obstacles were real. Formidable, even. A language difference that could have built walls. A height difference so dramatic it made them both laugh — Mike, is tall, Emely not so much. A distance measured in thousands of miles — opposite sides of the world, and everyone knows long-distance relationships rarely survive
Every logical voice said: walk away.
But God had other plans.
Everything Just Clicked
From the very first conversation, something was different.
They talked — really talked. Effortlessly, endlessly, about everything and nothing. They discovered shared values, shared faith, shared laughter. They agreed on the things that matter and complemented each other in the ways that count. The chemistry was not just present — it was undeniable.
Love did not creep in slowly. It arrived with certainty.
Within 10 days, they were officially together. Within 20, Mike was already booking flights. There was only one thing left to know — what it felt like to finally be in the same room.
The Visit That Confirmed Everything
Mike flew to the Philippines and stayed for 14 beautiful days.
And if there had been any remaining doubt, those two weeks swept it away completely. In person, everything they had felt through a screen came to life with even greater depth and joy. They laughed together, moved through the world together, and saw — clearly and without question — that they were good for each other. Not just compatible. Made for each other.
So Mike got down on one knee.
Emely said yes.
And Now, Here We Are
Every obstacle that once seemed immovable has been moved.
Mike is relocating to the Philippines to begin his life with the woman he loves. Emely's beautiful English grows stronger with every passing day. And as for the height difference — well, that's what heels are for. What remains is what was always there beneath everything: a deep, abiding, God-given love — forged through loss, confirmed through faith, and ready for a lifetime.
They are happy. They are excited. And they are absolutely certain of one thing,
God brought them together, and what God joins, nothing can separate.
